The Hurricane's a cumin'

Well this will be our first hurricane experience. We are really not expecting a lot here. We are supose to get a lot of rain and there is the possibility of torandos. The worst will be south and west of us. We could possibily get up to 15 inches of rain through Friday. We are ready though. I cleaned out the backyard of anything can could possibily blow around. I took up everything off the floor in the workshop that I don't want to get wet. I made sure the sump pump is working this time. Last time we had flooding our pump wasn't working so it didn't clean out the back yard of water. I am hoping this time it will work and the workshop won't get to wet inside. The city is as full as it can get with evacuees. So for the next few days I will have to keep the doors locked and the kids close. We were told the crime rate goes way up when things like this happen and our city fills. We should be ok here though. We are not really expecting much more than rain really. I just hope our electricity doesn't go out because that would be a bummer. Plus Sarah gets a little upset when the power goes. She gets really scared pretty easy. The whole talk of huricane has her already upset enough. I told her this is a test of our faith. We have to have faith that God will protect us and that whatever happens is what He wants to happen and he will take care of us. That seemed to help a little but she is still a little worried. I guess she will be alright once she realizes all that is going to happen is rain. A good thing about this incoming storm it will be cooler the next few days. So that will help with the electric bill. The highs are only in the 80's for the next few days. That is the coolest it has been all summer I think.
Living here for about a year and half now I am conviced of one thing. They never get nice weather here. It is either very hot, hot and humid, humid, or cold and miserable. Cold here being like in the 50's. I know you say well that's not really that cold. Well look at from our point of view our summers are over 95 about everyday and in the 100's and 110's on the hotter days. So that's 60 degrees cooler than our hottest day that's a big jump. Then here we don't get fall until like November. Last halloween I took the kids trick or treating and we didn't need a coat it was so warm out side. No I am conviced there are no nice weather days here. Louisiana is NOT the place for me.
