Flower garden and making pancakes

The flower garden out front of our house was in need of a major redo. All it had was 4 bushes, a ton of ivy (which we later figured out was poison), and a bunch of yucky mud. The 2 bushes in the middle could not be saved they were completely covered in ivy and were being killed by it. The whole area was being taken over by ivy roots. We removed a ton of roots and the 2 bushes. Then we added some garden soil since the soil that was there lacked plant nutrition. We planted flowers and added mulch.
TAADAA! a much better looking flower garden now the flowers need to get bigger.  Then the next day we knew that the ivy we were removing wasn't just some pesky plant. It was POISON IVY! I ended up only getting a small patch on my arm and a couple on my legs. I wore gloves when working in the garden so I think this is what helped keep the rash at a minimum for me. Albert however ended up completely covered in the stuff. And as it turns out he's allergic to the stuff. At one point he was swollen everywhere. There was not many places on his body that weren't red splotchy and swollen. His eyes were just about completely swollen shut. It was bad and for a time I was pretty worried about him. He ended up in the E.R. 4 times before starting to get some relief. He is still battling it but looks much much better. The swelling is all gone except for his one leg still swells.
Lesson learned- Poison ivy doesn't only grow in areas in or near the woods.

The next few pictures are of Katey making pancakes! She was so excited to help mommy make breakfast. She did really good too. She's a natural born cook I think.
Stirring the batter. She did need help with this part.
She waiting on the bubbles. When the pancakes start to bubble is about time to flip.
Time to flip!! She did well flipping them by herself. However she perferred to have help. She was a bit afraid of burning herself.
Albert being the wonderful big brother that he is and helping his little sister to get the pancakes off the griddle.
